Britam Blog

Message From Britam Asset Managers CEO

It gives me great pleasure to officially welcome you to the 1st issue of our monthly newsletter, Investment Beat.

Britam Asset Managers, was founded in 2004 with the main aim of filling a gap in quality Fund Management and Investment Advisory services to both individual and institutional investors. 15 years later, I am happy to let you know that we have exponentially grown. We are a leading player in the financial services sector with assets under management of KES. 158 Bn. We attribute a great deal of this exemplary growth to you, our customer, who have walked the journey with us over the years. We are also grateful for the support and heritage received from our parent company, Britam Holdings PLC and for the passion-driven staff members who keep our business running.

With growth comes many challenges and I must admit, sometimes along the way, we may have lost touch with you, our customer. We remain highly committed towards making our clients the centerpiece of our business. That is why, I am happy to inform you that through this platform, we can now get to interact you with more as well as share regular updates on the investment space. Below are some exciting new things to look out for in the newsletter;

  1. Great investment advice: We have a highly skilled and innovative team willing to offer the best investment advice. Have a look at our monthly articles and investment tips to learn more about investments for individuals and institutions.

  2. News updates and feature articles: We will endeavor to keep you posted on relevant local and international news relevant to your investment and personal needs.

  3. Meet the Team: We aim to introduce to you our team members, the key persons who keep the engines running in the front and back ends of the business.

In this issue, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, we have a special article contribution by one of our members on ‘Why economic empowerment is a great pillar in a gender balanced economy’.

In this issue, we also share more information on our increased our focus on investments in alternative assets. ‘Why this direction?’ You may ask. The main goal of driving this strategy is to enhance returns and to protect portfolio returns from such volatility. Alternative asset classes such as private equity, property and infrastructure offer us an opportunity to achieve this. Be on the look-out on some of the projects we shall undertake in the coming months.

Once again, I take this opportunity to thank you for your business support. I hope you will enjoy our newsletter. I encourage you to freely give us feedback on what else you would like us to cover in the future.

Kind regards,

Kenneth Kaniu - CEO – Britam Asset Managers (K) Ltd.
