Britam Foundation Launches Solar-Powered Pump at Ngengech Primary School and Katumwok Primary School

Britam Foundation has launched the installation of solar-powered pumps at both Ngengech and Katumwok Primary Schools in West Pokot, providing a sustainable water solution to the schools and their surrounding communities. These installations are part of Britam Foundation’s commitment to enhancing educational environments and promoting community well-being through access to clean water.

  • Ng'eng'ech Primary School: Located approximately 120km from Kitale, Ngengech Primary’s borehole, with an estimated depth of 100 meters and a yield of 2.5 cubic meters per hour, will now serve the school’s 100 students along with 500 households and over 2,000 livestock in the area, reducing the daily struggle for clean water access.
  • Katumwok Primary School: Similarly located around 120km from Kitale, Katumwok Primary School's handpump borehole will benefit the school community of 100 students, 500 households, and over 2,000 livestock.

By providing these solar-powered pumps, Britam Foundation supports the sustainability and growth of these schools and their communities, ensuring that students can focus on learning without the distraction of water scarcity.
