Britam Foundation Launches First Solar-Powered Pump Project in Rombo, Kajiado County
On 7th September 2024, Britam Foundation proudly launched its first Solar Pump Installation Project at Olmapinu Primary School in Rombo, Kajiado County. This initiative marks the beginning of a series of 21 solar-powered projects under the Foundation’s Lea Salama Initiative, designed to improve both well-being and early childhood education.
The solar pump installation ensures a sustainable and clean water supply for the school and its surrounding community. Access to clean water not only addresses critical health needs by reducing the risk of waterborne diseases but also alleviates the burden on children who would otherwise spend time fetching water. This enables them to focus more on their education, thereby enhancing the learning environment.
This project will benefit 470 students and 3,000 community members, providing essential infrastructure that supports both educational and environmental sustainability. By improving access to clean water, the initiative contributes to a healthier and more productive learning atmosphere.
The Lea Salama Initiative is dedicated to providing quality education and essential services that foster the physical, cognitive, and emotional development of every child. The solar pump installation at Olmapinu Primary School is a key component of Britam Foundation's mission to enhance educational conditions and equip young learners with the foundational skills necessary for their growth and development.
This project exemplifies Britam Foundation’s commitment to sustainability and community empowerment. The solar-powered infrastructure not only delivers immediate benefits but also ensures long-term positive impacts for schools and communities across Kenya.
